This workshop draws on the historic Danse Macabre tradition to explore mortality through dance and embodiment. Diane’s extensive experience in socially engaged dance and community wellbeing, invites you to reflect on death’s universality through improvisation and creative movement that connects body, memory, and meaning.

Diane Busuttil is a dance artist, educator, and filmmaker whose work is recognised in Australia and internationally. She founded Creative Caring in 2019, a movement-based organisation focused on improving physical and mental health for seniors through dance and theatre techniques. She has worked extensively in aged care, hospital dementia units, and cultural institutions including the Sydney Opera House. As a movement specialist, she supports bodies with cognitive and physical challenges, creating programs for both performance contexts and movement development. Her practice is grounded in somatic techniques, yoga, and improvisation, with a strong focus on silence, listening, and the practice of care, which is fully integrated into her creative movement sessions.

Diane conducts Spring for Seniors, a dance theatre workshop program for over 55s, at the Sydney Opera House monthly for over two years. The program has recently been doubled due to popular demand, proving that older bodies need movement and joy in their lives.

Since 2022, she has been working on collaborative, socially engaged projects with The CAD Factory. Diane is on the steering committee for the Create Health Quality Framework.
